About Us

Connecting Philippine Growers to Canadian Makers

Kubo Trading Company imports tropical ingredients from the Philippines for the Canadian food and beverage trade. Our range covers aseptic fruit purées and specialty powders sourced from Philippine harvests.

We work with bakeries, breweries, creameries, restaurants, and manufacturers across Canada, the kind of operations looking for authentic tropical flavours to build into their own products.

Why Philippine Fruit?

The Philippines sits in the heart of the tropical belt. Volcanic soil, monsoon rains, and generations of farming knowledge produce fruit with a depth of flavour that's hard to find anywhere else.

The Carabao Mango (Philippine Yellow Mango) is a good example. It holds the Guinness World Record as the sweetest mango variety on record. Calamansi, the small citrus native to the islands, carries a bright, floral tartness that no lime or lemon quite matches. These aren't generic tropical flavours. They're distinctly Filipino, and we think they belong in Canadian kitchens, breweries, and production floors.

How We Source

Good sourcing is less about finding the cheapest supplier and more about finding the right one.

We work with a single Philippine producer with decades of experience and a real commitment to quality and food safety. Keeping the supply chain that simple has practical upsides for the people who buy from us:

  • Batch-to-batch consistency you can plan around
  • Full traceability from processing to your facility
  • Aseptic packaging for a 12 to 18 month shelf life, with no refrigeration required
  • Canadian food safety compliance built into how we operate

One producer, one importer, and a clear line from the Philippines to your door.

Built for Food Professionals

Good ingredients are the starting point, not the whole job. You also need documentation, the right pack sizes, and someone who answers when there's a question.

So alongside the products, we provide:

  • Pack sizes to match your production scale: 25 kg and 220 kg for aseptic purées, and 1 kg and 5 kg for specialty powders, with larger volumes available on request
  • Spec sheets, COAs, and allergen statements for every product
  • Wholesale pricing for volume orders
  • Canadian-based support from people who know the industry

Whether you're a gelato maker adding ube to the menu, a brewer working on a tropical sour, or a manufacturer scaling a recipe up, the aim is to make that work easier.

The Name

Kubo is the Tagalog word for the traditional nipa hut, the bamboo-and-palm structure found across the Philippine countryside. It stands for home, resourcefulness, and building something lasting from what the land provides.

For us, the name is a reminder of where good food starts: with good ingredients, grown in the right soil by people who've done this for generations. Our part is to bring those ingredients to Canada and put them in the hands of makers who'll do something worthwhile with them.

Products

What products do you offer?

We import aseptic fruit purees from the Philippines. Our current lineup includes the Philippine Yellow Mango, Calamansi, Dalandan, Passion Fruit, Pineapple, Papaya, Guava, Dragon Fruit, and Coconut purees.

What makes your products different from other fruit purees?

It starts with origin. The Philippines is home to some of the world's most distinctive tropical fruits, each with flavour characteristics shaped by the country's climate, growing conditions and agricultural traditions. Our Philippine Yellow Mango Purée is produced from carefully selected Philippine Carabao mangoes, a variety prized for its vibrant aroma, natural sweetness, and smooth texture. Our calamansi and dalandan purées showcase two of the Philippines' most iconic citrus fruits, each offering a flavour profile that is difficult to replicate with conventional citrus ingredients.

What does "aseptic" mean?

Aseptic processing heats the puree to eliminate microorganisms, then packages it in a sterile environment. The result is a shelf-stable product that doesn't require refrigeration until opened and maintains consistent flavor, color, and texture for up to 18 months.

Are your purees made from concentrate?

No. Our purees are single-strength, made from whole fruit. No reconstitution, no added water.

Do your products contain added sugar, preservatives, or artificial colors?

No. Our purees are 100% fruit. No added sugars, no preservatives, no artificial colors or flavors.
